HOW TO DESIGN A SMALL LIVING ROOM IN 2022?
How to Arrange a Small Living Room?
It’s easy to be tempted by the mansions in home-design magazines with large living areas and lots of outdoor space. Those pictures of big rooms with a lot of furniture may not work in a house with small rooms. Living rooms with poor layouts waste valuable floor space. With the right seating arrangement, a small living room can look spacious. Nine different ways of arranging seats show this.
One-wall seating
There is only one wall in a matchbox living room, so a single piece of furniture is a great choice. When there is a television in the living room, a sofa facing the screen is a convenient place to sit back and enjoy your movie.
Scale up your room’s seating capacity with cushions, poufs, or ottomans.
Pros:
- It takes up very little floor space.
- You can style it with poufs, ottomans, and benches as additional seating.
Cons:
- Seating is restricted and fixed.
Layout in an L-shape
With adjacent walls, an L-shape seating arrangement can thrive. Intimacy and openness are combined to facilitate a conversation.
Pros:
- It maximizes the use of otherwise unused wall and corner space.
Cons:
- It is only possible to use this feature in rooms with at least two adjacent walls.
Parallel Layout
Parallel layouts are ideal for entertaining and hosting because they ensure everyone in the room can see each other.
Pros:
- It achieves streamlined seating areas.
Cons:
- Not having a separate TV room could be a problem here.
U-shaped Layout
In a U-shape arrangement, a sofa or bench occupies three out of four corners of the room. Abundant seating creates intimate conversation nooks.
This living room’s understated elegance creates an air of cozy coziness.
Pros:
- Well-suited for hosting and entertaining.
- It increases the seating capacity.
Cons:
- You can only do it in rooms with three adjoining walls or sufficient space for a freestanding U-shaped layout.
Inward-looking Layout
Even if you don’t use the walls as a reference point, the three-sided format can provide a cozy atmosphere for family gatherings and other social events. Television could benefit from the fourth wall.
Use a bench or sofa without a back as a divider between two areas. Seating is possible on both sides of the structure.
Pros:
- It allows a variety of seating arrangements to be created.
Cons:
- Three-way space is required, which may not be present in all rooms.
Floor Seats
You can give the impression of more space by removing things that are directly in your line of vision. You can design modular floor seats to be the same height as the rest of the furniture.
Pros:
- It eliminates sofas that take up too much space.
- It allows the rest of the decor to stand out a little more.
Cons:
- Everyone may not find floor seating to be a suitable option.
