Secret Tips to Designing a Bedroom

What about when you walk into a space that instantly seems like home? If it’s popular, chances are its design is straightforward and effective. However, basic bedroom designs are harder to create than they appear.

Why? For the simple reason that every bedroom must have a bed. Beds are big and bulky, so where they go in a room affects how easy it is to get to all the other furniture. If, on the other hand, you get to design a bedroom from scratch or redo an old one, you have control over all the other factors and can make the room as practical and attractive as you want.

The bedrooms here do that in a stylish way. Even if you don’t have a great view, access to the outdoors, or a lot of space to work with, these bedrooms can give you ideas on how to make the bedroom of your dreams.

The bedroom is often overlooked because it’s simple. Without a well-planned and efficient bedroom layout, it’s hard to make a beautiful living space.

If you want to make the most of your bedroom, consider these seven suggestions.

1. Simple circulation

Keep to one side of the room. Hotels do it well. Because it’s efficient and straightforward to implement, 90% of hotels use the same layout.

En suite rooms (bedrooms with attached bathrooms) and bedrooms with doors leading outside add some complexity to circulation patterns.

To save space, arrange your bedroom’s bathroom and closet. The hall must be long if a bathroom or closet is before a bedroom. If the bathroom and closet are in the bedroom, you don’t need a hall. Circulation space makes a room feel bigger.

2. Look at the scene

When you walk into a bedroom, it always feels better if the first thing you see is a nice view out the window instead of the bed. If you’re making a new bedroom or remodeling an old one, try to find a layout that draws attention to the view, whether it’s a beautiful lake or just your backyard.

3. Think about privacy

It’s nice to leave the door to your bedroom open without giving up all of your privacy. This bedroom floor plan has a small foyer separate from the family room. I always try to avoid making a layout where you can look straight into a bedroom from a more public space, like a great room, kitchen, or family room.

4. Connect with the outdoors

Even though this might not be possible in all climates, connecting a room to the outside is a great way to make the space feel bigger and let in more natural light. If your bedroom is on the ground floor or the second floor and has a terrace next to it, adding a set of French doors can make it look bigger right away.

5. Consider the furniture layout

The layout of your master bedroom should take your furniture into account. Most bedroom floor plans have a wall for the bed, but what about dressers, nightstands, TVs, chairs, and a desk? Work with your architect or designer to make sure that the bedroom furniture layout leaves enough space for nightstands and enough traffic flow so that you can get to all three sides of the bed.

6. Add more light and airflow

If you put your bedroom in a corner of your house, you can put windows on two or more walls next to each other. It can let in more air and give you softer natural light. It works really well for designing small bedrooms.

7. Take your time

Before you can create the best plan for your life, you must make changes. Design carefully. It’s better to spend more time upfront to ensure a successful plan.

The truth is that a well-designed space doesn’t have to be hard to build or cost a lot of money. A great example of good design can be a space that works better, costs less to build, costs less to run, and is easier to keep up.
